Road transport is used mainly for transport of goods and persons on short and intermediate distances. It has got the leading position in the volume of transport of goods and persons. The reason of the high rise of road transport frequency is also the fact that many new companies are built from scratch.
The organization of full load consignments is based on the fact that the forwarder chooses a suitable vehicle according to the conditions set by the consigner (i.e. dimensions, weight, volume). If it concerns full load consignments, then the whole consignment is loaded in one vehicle which is chosen by the forwarder according to the requirements of the consigner so that the following transport conditions are guaranteed: speed, efficiency, transport costs.
International road transport is a kind of transport where the point of origin and the point of destination are situated in two different states or a kind of transport where although the point of origin and the point of destination are in the same state, a part of the journey is realized in some other state.
International transportations are realized on the basis of the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods (CMR). The Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods says: “This Convention shall apply to every contract for the carriage of goods by road in vehicles for reward, when the place of taking over of the goods and the place designated for delivery, as specified in the contract, are situated in two different countries, of which at least one is a contracting country.”
A proof of concluding a contract according to the CMR Convention is an international consignment note (see attachment Nr.2). The consignment note is filled in by the consigner and confirmed by the carrier or forwarder. The carrier can write his reservations and notes into a special section in the consignment note. The carrier is liable for the whole or partial loss or damage of the consignment from its acceptance to its delivery to the authorized consignee.
