Air transport

Advantages of air freight transport:

• Speed. However, this need not be proved in the transport practice, particularly if it is not the case of a transport from one airport to another airport and if it is necessary to arrange various road vehicles for transport to and from the airport. It is possible to give a number of examples of consignments realized originally by air to different parts of Europe that have been gradually switched to feeder truck transport that is able to compete not only with considerably lower transport costs but also with better time effectiveness. Air carriers and forwarders are aware of this weaker point and work systematically both on improving of the customs clearance conditions and on providing of a fast follow-up road transport of good quality.
• Frequency. There is a quite good offer in the Czech Republic as far as regular line connections are concerned, the running of special cargo planes is sporadic in the mean time, that´s why the connections to Franfurt am Main, Amsterdam , Vienna etc. are used from where regular air freight transport is run in appropriate frequency.
• The safety of air transport is generally considered better than by other transport modes. That´s why consignments with a high unit value such as furs, precious metals, gold, jewels, artworks, diamonds but also cargoes requiring special manipulation such as fine mechanics products, scientific apparatuses etc. are placed in charge of the air transport.
• Lower insurance costs become evident mainly with consignments of a higher value.
• Saving of packing material in comparison with road transport reaches up to 60% of costs, when using special air containers in a suitable way it can be considerably higher.
